Your UTV is tough, rugged, and powerful, but there are always upgrades that can help improve the performance and riding experience. We here at Corpus Christi Cycle Plaza know that comfort and safety are vital, so we’ve put together some tips to help you buy a windshield for your side-by-side.

The Material

UTV windshields come in a lot of shapes and sizes, but your first buying decision should be the material. Polycarbonate windshields are the most common due to their durability, and these windshields can withstand just about any debris or obstacles you’ll encounter. However, it’s easy for them to get scratched, which may impair visibility over time without a coating.

An acrylic windshield isn’t as strong, but it’s far more scratch-resistant. The downside is that if it breaks, it shatters, which may be dangerous. Glass windshields are even less durable, but are the most scratch-resistant.

The Style

The style of the windshield depends on your needs. Full windshields provide total coverage, sealing up the front opening of your side-by-side entirely. Some include vents that you can open or close to allow a little more airflow. However, messy trails might dirty these up, causing visibility issues.

A half windshield helps minimize wind fatigue without potentially obscuring your view entirely, so long as you’re tall enough to look over it. A flip windshield can be either a half or a full windshield. For maximum protection, full-cab enclosures are a good option.
